Countrywide Shingle is just short of a scam. Their pushy and bigoted salesman (found that out that detail too late) convinced us to file a claim and we did in fact receive a new roof (which we needed). They promised to come one day...and didn't show and didn't call. After repeated phone calls from me, they promised another day...and didn't show and didn't call. Another series of phone calls generated another promise, and, third time's the charm, they finally showed up. Of course, they promised the work would take less than a day, and it took more than three. All this meant that my wife and 9-month-old son had to find arrangements to be elsewhere every time we scheduled the roofing and during the extended roof replacement. Everyone we talked with promised that we were only responsible for our deductible and Countrywide would replace the roof for the cost the insurance set. That all seemed fine until OVER A YEAR later we received a notice with no warning, no previous notices, that they were requesting $375 and were ready to send us to collections, put a lien on our house, and take us to court - all a couple weeks before Christmas no less. I called Countrywide to clear this up and Alicia gave no apologies for the confusion, no I'm sorry you're upset, no indication whatsoever that Countrywide may have screwed this up royally and then resorted to tactics reserved for the darkest pits of corrupt business practices. She said she would "look into it" and get back to me. Considering I called twice over the weekend and still had to call on Monday, I don't have high hopes for this one. At the present, this remains unresolved pending Alicia's "look" and a Better Business Bureau complaint, the 22nd in the last year or two. NOTE THAT COUNTRYWIDE'S BBB ACCREDITATION WAS REVOKED. This is a rotten business run by a bunch of monkeys with no sense of customer relations, respect, or honor. Avoid them at all costs.
